The sculptor Wilhelm Andreas was born in Volkmarsdorf on 1st July, 1882. From 1899 to 1933 he studied at the Leipzig Art Academy with Adolf Lehnert. In the former studio of Max Klinger, Andreas shared work space with Johannes Hartmann. Wilhelm Andreas' sculptures are characterized by mild notions of Expressionims and a strong stylization, just as it is the case with this work. [KH].
