Signed in upper left and in top center. Verso with the estate stamp (Lugt 1570b) and the hand-written number "A Da/Bi 10". On firm smooth wove paper. 35 x 47 cm (13.7 x 18.5 in), the full sheet. [CH].

• Figure composition in strong colors and with a painting-like effect.
• The casual scene shows E. L. Kirchner, his partner Erna Schilling and a guest at the "Wildbodenhaus" in Davos, where the couple had just settled in 1923, the year this work was made.
• The guest might have been the art critic Gustav Schiefler who visited the artist in Davos in June that year.
• Kirchner also depicts a couple of pieces of furniture, among them the backrest of a bench showing a mother with children, which he had carved the year our watercolor was made
.
