"It's a gaze into distance, a stare into space - and at the same time a look inside. I can't say where exactly they are looking. The figures don't look at anyone specific, but they absorb the observer's view. Perhaps this is a means to reach an identification of the observer with the figure. The in-/outside ambivalence matters to me.“
