Beautiful and very rare binding „aux petits fers“ for Louis Joseph Xavier de France (1751-1761), duke of Burgundy, grandchild of king Louis XV. Lavishly gilt tooling on spine and boards, with inside gilt border and gilt edges, each cover with armorial centrepiece (Olivier/Hermal 2545, fers 3). Size 21,7 : 14,5 cm. In mod. half calf case with gilt spine. - Slight restoring to bottom of spine. Well preserved. - Contains: L’office de la semaine sainte. With engr. frontispiece, engr. title and 5 engr. sub-titles after Humblot. Paris 1743. - From the collection Cortlandt F. Bishop. Also Bookplate Stig Wilton.
