Wüthrich II 38 a/b. - First German translation of vols. I-IV of the Theatrum Europaeum, this, however, just the almost complete series of coppers. Lacking the main part, preliminaries and endpapers mostly at hand (incl. title ll.): Vol. I: 18 (of 19) ll. & 8 (of 13) ll. - Vol. II: 17 (of 18) ll. & 10 ll. - The coppers with maps, vews and battle plans etc., among them numerous large German cities. - Binding removed, plates detached. Slightly foxed in places (mostly in margins) and wit small marginal defects, each plate with red number on verso of upper corner (partly showing through), 1 plate stamped on verso, 5 plates with larger split, with isolated crease marks, margins slightly wormed.

With 2 frontispieces, 1 fullpage portrait, 12 copper plates with 144 small portraits and 94 mostly double page copper maps, partly multiple folding (of 106). Contemp. half calf (defective). - Slightly foxed in places (mostly in margins) and with small marginal defects, each plate with red number on verso of upper corner (partly showing through), 1 plate stamped on verso, 5 plates with larger split, with isolated crease marks, margins slightly wormed.
