• This is one of the earliest color etchings by the lately deceased protagonist of French Informalism.
• On his quest for non-figurative painting, Soulage pursued a gestural-intuitive style in the 1950s.
• In "Eau-forte V", Soulage transferred the structure of the broad brushstroke to the print medium with great mastery.
• Paintings and prints from the important 1950s are part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
