• In 1906, the artist moved to Wannsee in his beloved Havel landscape.
• The work shows the Prinz-Friedrich-Leopold-Canal, completed in 1906, not far from the artist's home.

Construction of the Griebnitz Canal, also known as the Prinz-Friedrich-Leopold Canal, began in 1901. It still connects the Großer Wannsee with the Griebnitzsee today. Our painting shows the section between Pohlesee and Stölpchensee. Our painting was made in 1906, the year the canal was completed . The Alsen Bridge can be seen in the background. [EH]
