Blumenstilleben auf Schwarzem Grund II. 1913.
Oil on canvas.
60 x 49 cm (23.6 x 19.2 in).
[SM].
• The painting is characterized by its bold composition, in which the quality of the flowers contrasts with the quantity of the three diagonally arranged areas of color
• Stenner creates a floral still life that is consistently designed for the expression of color and its effect
• The flower still life as a carrier and mediator of the colors for the development of the effect on the viewer is concretely emphasized by the non-color black of the background.
PROVENANCE: From the artist's estate.
