"Blondel was a leading exponent of the 'official' attitude towards architecture. In this work he develops in great detail the strict academic position in regard to the authority of the works of Vitruvius, Alberti, Vignola, Palladio and Scamozzi" (Fowler). Die Kupferstiche von S. de la Boissiere und J. B. Broebes zeigen neben allegorischen Darstellungen der Künste vor allem Säulenordnungen, Bogenkonstruktionen, Türen, Treppen, Gebälke, mathematische Berechnungen etc. - Mehrfach gestempelt, stellenweise gering fleckig, 1 Bl. mit hinterlegter Randläsur. Einbd. berieben, Kanten beschabt und bestoßen, Rücken mit Signaturschildresten.
