Signed in lower right. Handwritten inscription “Max Ackermann, Lautensänger, Preis: 2000 Mr” on an old label on the reverse. Inscribed “ACK5858” by a hand other than the artist's on the reverse. 72 x 45 cm (28.3 x 17.7 in).

• Ackermann was a student of Adolf Hölzel since 1915.
• His encounter with Hölzel in 1912 would have a formative influence on his artistic work - he inspired Ackermann to non-objective painting.
